Advertising, Public Notices and Plans

An applicant must publish notice of the application in a local newspaper on at least one occasion during the period of 10 working days starting with the day after the day on which the application in made and by displaying a notice on the premises to which the application relates. This notice must be in a place at which it can conveniently be read by members of the public from the exterior of the premises for a period of no less than 28 consecutive days starting on the day on which the application is made.

These notice provisions do NOT apply to fast track, transfers and reinstatements.

Responsible Authorities

Person making an application must give the appropriate notice (see below) of the application to:
  • fast track - not applicable
  • grants, renewals, variations and provisional statements, - to each of the responsible authorities below within 7 days of the application being submitted.
  • transfer or reinstatement of a premises licence - to A, B, C, H and I from the list of responsible authorities below within 7 days of the application being submitted.

Interested Parties

An interested party is a person that:

  • lives sufficiently close to the premises to be likely to be affected by the authorised activities; or
  • has business interests that might be affected by the authorised activities; or
  • represents persons in either of these 2 groups
Any representation must be made within a period of 28 days beginning on the date of which the application was made to the licensing authority. The only representations that are likely to be relevant are those that relate to the issued under the licensing policy statement, the commissions guidance or codes of practice or the licensing objectives:
  • preventing gambling from being a source of crime or disorder, being associated with crime or disorder, or being used to support crime;
  • insuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way;
  • protecting children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gambling
