Mayor launches new bursary fund for young people leaving care

The Mayor, Councillor Aislinn Lee has established a new Bursary Fund for young people coming out of local authority care.

The Mayor launched the Bursary Fund at her Civic Service at the Cathedral in St Albans on Sunday 16 October 2011. The Fund is being administered by Hertfordshire Community Foundation.

The Mayor, Cllr Aislinn Lee commented “I consider our district to be one community, one big family. The Mayor’s Bursary Fund is a community fund which will be used to give bursaries and gifts to young people leaving care.  There are many young people who do not have families to provide the special things young people need when they leave home. This community fund will step in and fill that gap."

How to Donate

If you would like to make a donation to the Mayor's Bursary Fund for Young People Leaving Local Authority Care, you can do so in a number of ways:

Cheque

Cheques should be made payable to 'Hertfordshire Community Foundation' (please add a note to the back of your cheque stating that it is for the Mayor's Bursary Fund).

Cheques can be sent to The Mayor's Office, St Albans City and District Council, St Peter's Street, St Albans, AL1 3JE

Donate Online

You can also donate online to the Mayor's Bursary Fund via their website then click 'Donate now' 

Standing Order

You can set up a Standing Order form to donate regularly via a standing order straight from your bank account. To set up a standing order, please use the form below and send it to the Mayor's Office.

Gift Aid

If you pay tax, you can increase the amount of your donation to the Mayor's Bursary Fund by filling out the Gift Aid Declaration Form below which will allow the fund to reclaim the tax on your gift. Further details on Gift Aid can be found within the declaration form.
