The Mayor Cllr Aislinn Lee with representatives from the 2 charities

The Mayor, Councillor Aislinn Lee held a charity fund raising dinner on Sunday 25 September at Kashu and managed to raise an astounding £1,450 to help her charities* Sure-start St Albans and St Albans and Hertsmere Women’s Refuge (SAHWR).
The Mayor commented: “I was overwhelmed to see how much money we had raised at my first charity event. Along with the cost of the dinner and other usual fundraising events on the night, our generous guests raised a staggering £1,450 towards the Mayor’s Charities. I still cannot believe the depth of their generosity and thank them with all my heart. Representatives of both charities, The Women’s Refuge and Sure-Start, were present at the meal and I know just how truly grateful they are too!

“I also have to offer my most grateful thanks to the outstanding response from our local retail outlets. Whilst collecting the prizes I was impressed by the exceptional generosity of local traders in their support of the two local charities. The list of prizes is far too large to name everyone who supported us but, their commitment to the community they serve will always be appreciated.
”I also wish to thank the 6 young ladies from St Albans Girls’ School (STAGS) who came along to support me on the night and sold all the raffle tickets and collected money.”
Cllr Aislinn Lee, The Right Worshipful the Mayor of St Albans City & District.
