The Cabinet is the Council's decision making body.  It has eight members who have different responsibilities for aspects of the Council's business.  They meet on a regular basis throughout the year.  They work closely with council officers and heads of service, to make many decisions that affect services.

The Council's Cabinet

The six Cabinet positions - or portfolios - are held by the Conservative group.

A Forward Plan of the Cabinet's work, covering a four month period, is published monthly on this website.  Copies are sent to the local media, Parish/Town Councils and local libraries. An annual statement is published in the local media explaining what the Forward Plan is, and where and when it will be available.  Cabinet must work within the budget and policy framework set by the full council.

Members of Cabinet and their portfolio holders are as follows:

Julian Daly - Resources

Mike Wakely - Sports, Leisure and Heritage

Beric Read - Community Engagement and Localism

Daniel Chichester-Miles - Environmental

Brian Ellis - Housing

Teresa Heritage - Planning and Conservation
