The academic year or school year runs from 1st September to 31st August.
These term dates apply to community and voluntary-controlled schools only: they may not apply to voluntary-aided or foundation schools as they set their own dates. For voluntary aided and foundation schools you should contact the school direct to confirm these dates.

In addition to this, schools will also close on INSET days and Occasional days. The school sets these dates and there are approximately five per year. Whenever possible the school has these days either at the beginning or at the end of a term or half term, to cause minimum disruption to pupils and families. Please to find out when their INSET or Occasional days are.

Alternatively please see the link on the right of the page to School Term Dates and INSET/Occasional Days.
