A cleaner district campaign

The new campaign is part of the council's drive to make St Albans district the premier community in Hertfordshire.

The bid to improve the district does not end with the launch of the hotline number. Under the banner of working for a premier environment the council will be working to clean up graffiti with a new strategy, focusing on cleaning up chewing gum and continuing to work with Hertfordshire Highways to 'deep clean' residential streets.

All the major approach roads into the city and district will be checked weekly to reveal any problems and improve the reaction times by council clean-up teams.

The council is committed to working for a premier environment and making the city and district an even better place to live and work.

To help achieve this everyone is encouraged to get involved and use the hotline and e-mail reporting system. Council staff will be asked to report any grot spots they see while out and about in the district and, using special reporting cards, pass the information on to the Environmental Services Department. Residents, business people and visitors can do the same.

We want you to help us. Together we can improve the district.
