green bin Frozen Bin Contents

Due to the cold weather the contents of your bins (particularly garden waste) may become frozen to the bin. Please ensure that the contents are loosened prior to collection so that the bin can be emptied. Crews will try to shake lose the material but if the material will not come out we will be unable to return for the bin until the next scheduled collection.

Waste Collections in the snow

winter new home page We will be working hard to keep services going this  winter. If snow and ice hit the District we have plans in place to help keep disruption to waste and recycling services to a minimum. If disruption lasts for a day or two, collections will roll on one day until we catch up. Crews will work on Saturdays until backlogs are cleared. Where disruption is more severe, lasting 3 days or more, recycling collections will be suspended for those roads that we have not been able to get to. In these roads, we will continue to try to collect, and when we do, all rubbish and food waste will be sent to the tip as landfill. You may prefer not to put your food caddy out until the next week so the content can be recycled instead. Other recycling will be collected on the next scheduled collection day, weather permitting.

See also our Winter weather service updates for news of what is happening in your area.

You can use this form to report a missed collection. Please do not report a missed collection via multiple methods as this can lead to delays in responding to your enquiry. Any missed bin reports MUST be made within 2 working days of the collection in order for the contractor to return and collect the waste. Reports made after this time may not result in a collection.
