Littering can be a huge problem on our streets, the mess left around making whole areas look unsightly, unwelcoming and can encourage vermin.

Dropping litter is an offence and can result in a fine.

St Albans City & District Council provides litter bins throughout the District to ensure that there is no excuse for leaving rubbish on the streets. These bins are intended for use by residents and visitors on-the-go and not for domestic waste, which should be presented as part of the waste collections. Business waste is also prohibited from going into on-street bins. Bags of waste left around the bin maybe investigate with a view to enforcement action.

The Council has also installed dual litter bins which have a compartment for refuse and another for recycling as well as on-street recycling bins in order to promote recycling.

If a litter bin is overflowing, or to report any any other problems or queries about litter bins, contact us.
