Smokefree St Albans

On Sunday 1st July 2007 the Smokefree legislation came into force. The legislation, made under the Health Act 2006, means that virtually all 'enclosed' and 'substantially enclosed' public places and work places must be smokefree. This includes both permanent and temporary structures such as marquees and tents. Also indoor smoking rooms in public places and work places will no longer be allowed.
This change will make St Albans district a safer and healthier place to live, work and visit.
As well as covering public places and work places, the legislation applies to all forms of public transport including taxis and minibuses, and all work vehicles.
If you are a smoker and have been thinking about quitting, now could be the perfect time to take the plunge. Please contact the Stop Smoking Service on 0800 389 3 998 for more information on ways you can get the help and support you need.
