The Cash Incentive Scheme has been introduced to help St Albans Council tenants to purchase a property of their own on the open market. The Council provide a cash grant, the amount ranges from £15,000-£30,000, dependant on the size of your property and the amount of time you have held a council tenancy.
There are no more funds available in 2010/11. If you are interested in the scheme please enquire in April 2011.
Terms and Conditions
You may purchase a property anywhere in the UK providing:
-it does not exceed the average property price for the type of property you are buying in the district you intend to move to.
-it must be of a suitable size to adequately house your family.
Other conditions include the tenant must:
-ensure there are no debts outstanding to the Council.
-have had a clear rent account for a period of 12 months prior to the application.
-provide the Council with full details of income and savings.
-provide reasonable access to officers to inspect their current home.
