Warm Home Discount Scheme

There are two main groups who will benefit from the scheme:

Core Group: The Warm Home Discount scheme requires participating energy suppliers to give a rebate on their electricity bill to a specified group of their older customers on low incomes, known as the Core Group. The Government will inform suppliers which households to support through sharing limited data between the Department for Work and Pensions and the energy suppliers. For the first year of the scheme, eligibility for the Core Group rebate is linked to those on the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit.

Broader Group: support is targeted at low income and vulnerable households who are fuel poor or in a fuel poverty risk group. Each energy supplier has slightly different eligibility criteria for the Broader Group.   Most of the suppliers offer assistance for households on means tested benefit and with a child under 5.  The amount credited to individual bills will be £120.
