Multi-Arts Youth Project
This project was a huge success with 50 students from 2 local schools between the ages of 11-15 years taking part in a series of drama, dance and visual art workshops. Sessions were held in January and February 2011 and led up to a live performance at the Harpenden Public Halls in February half term.
The theme of bullying was well received by the students. They got a chance to express themselves, find their own voice and identity, work together to conquer bullying and learn not to judge a book by its cover. It was a fantastic experience for them and comments made by the young people suggest that the project altered some of their perceptions about what they are capable of and what they can achieve.
Most of the students attained a bronze level arts award as part of this project which is a nationally recognised qualification specific to the arts.
