Maltings Art Theatre

The Maltings Arts Theatre is an intimate venue which receives a wide variety of touring professional theatre, dance and music companies. Our programme consists of theatre, fringe productions, spoken word, stand-up comedy, music gigs, classical concerts, children's theatre and activities for children & young people.

The Maltings Café & Bar

Our café is open 10am - 4.45pm Mon - Thu & Sat and 45 minutes before the start of each evening performance.

Booking Details

Bookings can be made by telephone, post or in person.

Reservations can only be accepted for group bookings.

Refunds are not available in any circumstance.

All seats are unreserved, please choose where to sit when you enter the theatre. Latecomers may not be admitted until a suitable break in the performance.

Concessions

Concessions are available for those under 18, students and those in receipt of JSA, income support, housing/council tax benefits, incapacity benefit, working tax credit, pension credit and St Albans District Council Staff. Proof must shown at time of purchase.

Babes in arms will be admitted free of charge under 18 months. Please let us know at time of booking as everyone admitted to the auditorium must have a ticket.

Group Discount - One free ticket in every eleven purchased.

Children's Shows and Films

Saturdays - enjoy our selection of classic family movies and also the best touring theatre productions for chilldren, from traditional fables to popular modern tales using song, dance, mask and puppetry.

Facilities for hire for events and birthdays

Theatre and studio space available at competitive prices. Suitable for medium scale product launches, conferences, small-scale meetings and training sessions.

Lunchtime Music Recitals

Wednesday lunchtimes - a mixture of light classical solo artists, duos or trios and jazz ensembles or even a lunchtime lecture.

Activities for Children & Young People

Throughout the week we offer a variety of drama and art classes for young people from the age of 18 months - 18 years

Facilities for disabled people

The Theatre is accessible via lifts, and is on the same level as the car park (Level 2). We now have a portable induction loop.

How to Find us

Situated on Level 2 of the Maltings Shopping Centre, the theatre is next to the public library and is easily approached by the stair, lifts or level 2 of the car park.
