Has the Council sold the arts, sport and leisure facilities?

No. The arts, sport and leisure facilities are leased to Leisure Connection for the period of the contract.

How do I make a complaint about the arts, sport and leisure facilities?

In the first instance you should contact the Duty Manager/Business Manager at the facility concerned. However, if you are not satisfied with the response you receive please contact the Sport and Leisure Team at the Council.

How long is the contract with Leisure Connection Ltd?

The contract with Leisure Connection is for a term of 10 years from 1 March 2006, but makes provision for London Colney Recreation Centre and Westminster Lodge Leisure to be removed from the contract at an earlier date to facilitate the development of new facilities.

How often does the Council monitor Leisure Connection’s performance?

The Council’s Sport and Leisure Team undertake regular (weekly) site visits to monitor Leisure Connection’s performance.

How were Leisure Connection appointed to manage the sport and leisure centres?

Leisure Connection were appointed to manage the arts, sport and leisure facilities through a competitive tendering process that was conducted in 2004/05.

What role does the Council play in the operation of the arts, sport and leisure facilities?

The Council plays no part in the day to day operation of the arts, sport and leisure facilities. However, it works closely with Leisure Connection to monitor its performance, maintain the buildings and develop the services offered to customers
