When deciding which of the short list of options were most appropriate, we had to consider various constraints within each of the reaches such as:

• Archaeology
• Heritage
• Access
• Groundwater connectivity
• Riparian landowners
• Existing valuable habitat features
• Local Wildlife Sites
• Local Nature Reserve
• Tree Protection Orders
• Financial implications
• Buried/overhead services
• Flood risk
• Rights of way
• Recreation/amenity land use
• Statutory allotment sites
• Abstractions e.g. for online ponds/lakes
• Potential for land contamination
• Landscape impacts

In many cases these constraints restricted the options available to meet the project objectives. An overview of the reach-specific constraints and their implications for the option selection process is provided in the issues and constraints documents below.
