St Albans is a lively bustling city and district with a wide range of arts and entertainment events that enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors to the area. There is an exciting range of cultural activities including festivals, markets, theatre, film, concerts, sports, exhibitions, dance, and heritage. Hundreds of community arts groups, individuals, and professional organisations contribute to the lively programme of arts and entertainment at public facilities and venues throughout the year.

  * St Albans Festival  
   

St Albans FestivalWe are delighted to announce that St Albans Festival is to become an annual event.

The festival fortnight will take place from 21 June - 6 July 2008, and will see the District come alive with music and entertainment in the parks, pubs, theatres and streets to celebrate its rich culture and heritage. During the two weeks the all new St Albans Food and Drink Festival will also demonstrate culinary delights and food tips from local and international chefs. A host of big names including Paul Merton and Jimmy Carr will also join the celebrations.

  * Open Studios 2008  
   

Hertfordshire Open Studios 2008 takes place from 13th September - 5th October and any artist or craftsperson who lives or works in Hertfordshire is eligible to take part.

Open Studios involves artists inviting the public to their individual studio or getting together in small groups to exhibit their work. Open Studios 2007 was a huge success, involving over 200 artists and 133 studios. The 2008 event promises to be as successful as ever.
