Training
- Script Odyssey - courses and workshops in script development for people who tell stories for the screen
- Music Wise - programme of professional development courses for musicians run by the Musicians' Union.
- Boost - series of training workshops for artists, health, education and social care workers

Prizes and Competitions
- The Arts Council - presents a number of prizes and awards - rewarding creative talent in the arts.
- 7th Peter Kittel Short Film Competition - Open to all under 19 on 15 January 2006, the closing date. Own topic or interpret theme, limit 15 mins, almost any format. Cash and voucher prizes for two sections (under 16, 16 to under 19), trophy for the most original entry overall. For full details and entry forms, email heatherlee@onetel.com
- Crafts Council Development Award - National scheme providing financial and business support to craftspeople at the start of their career over the course if one year.
- NESTA run a number of awards which support people with exceptional talent and imagination.
- MIND - Access All Ages- Service user art and creative writing competition. Open to all mental health service users. Shortlisted work will be displayed at annual conference and in exhibitions in London and Wales in 2006. Closing date: 12 January 2006.

Get involved
- Trestle Theatre Company is looking for older people to take part in in an exciting and creative Community Project in Spring 2006. The Big Spring Project 2006 will bring together young and older members of the local community, and will be led by a professional creative team from Trestle. It will culminate in a performance devised by the participants through weekly workshops, and participation in the project is free.

Submissions
- St Albans Symphony Orchestra and City of London Sinfonia are inviting submissions from composers for a New Music Day - 14 May 2006. The session will consist of a rehearsal and an informal performance, led by composer Roxanna Panufnik, conductor James Ross, and City of London Sinfonia musicians. Deadline: 1st February 2006.
