Tips for tenants
Taking on and running an allotment may seem a daunting task, but on many of our sites the more experienced plot holders are very willing to lend a helping hand and offer useful advice.
A number of our allotment sites have active tenant associations and hold regular social events throughout the year. These sites include Cottonmill and Nunnery Allotment Sites. http://stalbansallotments.co.uk
This is an excellent way of increasing the fertility of your plot and ideally only requires two simple framed containers. This allows all your vegetable material to be recycled and limits the amount of waste to be removed from the site. Burning and dumping is discouraged on all sites.
Sheds
Although sheds or greenhouses are not supplied by the Council, these may be erected with the written permission of the Council.
