The Homelessness Act 2002 made it necessary for all Council’s
to change how they allocate their homes. We have used this
opportunity to review and improve our allocation scheme.
The new scheme is an adaptation of our previous policy that
takes into account changes required by the Act and improves
other aspects of the service to those applying for homes.
This includes :-
- more choice for homeless people
- making better use of our
stock for disabled people
- additional priority for local
people
We expect this scheme to be in place by September 2003 and
will be writing to all of our applicants about the key changes
to the scheme.
