Q.1
When should I need to call out the pest control officer?
A.1
When you are sure that you have an infestation eg:
- In the case of rats external to the residence, you need to have seen them regularly over a period of 3 - 4 days and / or have other indications such as holes or disturbed refuse.
- In the case of mice internal to the residence, you need to have seen droppings and possible chewed items and you can hear noises.
- If all attempts to treat the situation for yourself fails ie. Trapping, baiting or spraying with shop brought products
Q.2
Do we have to be there when he calls?
A.2
Yes. Particularly for the first visit. The pest control officer
will call at a
neighbouring property for access if requested at the time
of booking.
Q.3
He's called before do I still have to be in?
A.3
No. If you have specifically stated on the initial visit that
you would not be
there and that access is available.
Q.4
I work all day and cannot be there, what can be done?
A.4
If you cannot find alternative access as stated above (A.2),
then it is suggested
that you use a private pest control company or self treat
the problem as above
(A.1 point c).
Q.5
When will he call?
A.5
You will be told the day of the visit but not a time. If you
contact the
department on the morning of the visit (after 9.30am) an approximate
time will
be given.
