The Council of the City & District of St Albans will commence a Review of Parliamentary Polling Districts and Polling Places for all the Wards within its area on 8 August 2007. The Council will be carrying out the review pursuant to Section 16 of the Electoral Administration Act 2006.
The Council will assess the need for new or changed Polling Districts and Polling Places and may make recommendations in respect of the creation, alteration or deletion of Polling Districts and Polling Places.
The Returning Officer will make comment on proposed Polling Stations
Any elector within the authority or within a parliamentary constituency which has any part in the authority may make a representation.
The Council would welcome any person or body with expertise in access for persons with any form of disability to make a representation or to comment on the Councils proposals, the Returning Officer’s representation or any other matter.
Persons or bodies making representations should, if possible, give alternative places that may be used as Polling Places

The Council expects to publish a proposed scheme on 7 September 2007 and make this available for consultation until 10 October 2007. Copies of the proposals when published will be available at the District Council Offices, Civic Centre, St Albans; Harpenden Town Council Offices Leyton Road, Harpenden and local libraries. All representations will be available for public inspection by appointment and a list of respondents will be available on the Councils website.
The Council intends to approve the scheme at its Council meeting on 28 November 2007, in time for the publication of the new Register of Electors on 30 November 2007.
The Closing Date for the receipt of initial representations is Tuesday 28 August 2007.
