The Planning Department is responsible for controlling the use and development of land for homes and buildings in a sustainable way.

Building Control ensure that all newly erected, extended and altered buildings within the district meet building regulation requirements and are constructed to a standard that protects people's health, safety, welfare and convenience. 

Many developments will require both a planning application and a Building Control application.
