The top 10 FAQs the council receives within the contact centre are:
Why do I have to have a black wheeled bin?
The council has to introduce wheeled bins in order to meet stringent recycling and landfill targets set by the Government. Unless you live in a property that is unsuitable for wheeled bins you will be required to use them. If you feel that your property is unsuitable for a wheeled bin call 01727 819285 and ask for a Waste Management Officer to visit you.
What day is my collection day?
Both the compost collection and box collection is emptied on the same day every two weeks – if you look on your calendar the recycling week is coloured in green. At the moment refuse is collected every week but when the collections change to fortnightly, you will need to refer to the week coloured in black. Your collection day for recycling and refuse will depend on your street. If you have access to the internet – collection dates can now be checked on www.recyclingforapremier.com
The exception to the above is when it has been agreed that the collection will be made via an adjoining road (this still could be the same day but a check should be made under the other road as well).
