Grading and Symbols – Accommodation
Grading
A unified grading system is now implemented by VisitBritain,
The Automobile Association (AA) and The Royal Automobile
Club (RAC) for hotels and guest houses. Through this system
all graded establishments are visited annually by trained,
impartial assessors so you can have confidence that your
accommodation has been thoroughly checked and graded for
quality.
Hotels are given a rating
of one to five stars – the more stars, the higherthe
quality and greater the range of facilities and level of services
provided.Travel accommodation is also a rating available
for hotels that provide this specific service.
Guest accommodation including hotels,
guest houses, bed and breakfasts ,
inns and farmhouses, are rated from one to five diamonds.
The same minimum requirement for facilities and services
applies to all guest accommodation from one to five diamonds.
Progressively higher levels of quality and customer care
must be provided for each of the one to five diamond rating.
Self-Catering and Caravan & Camping are
awarded a star rating from one star to five stars. The more
stars, the higher the quality and the greater the range of
facilities and level of services provided.
For further information on the grading
levels see the Guide
to Ratings
