
The use of parking bays or bays may be suspended at the discretion of the Council for events such as building, roadwork's, special events, removal vehicles which required access to specific parking areas.
Within residential areas as much notice as possible is requested to ensure the minimum of disruption for residents.
For suspension of parking areas for building or utility works (e.g. gas or water) the applicant maybe required to advise residents by way of a letter to ensure they are fully aware of the works to be undertaken.
Yellow suspension signs will be placed as near as possible to the affected area showing the details of the suspension, residents are advised to check all signs in their road before parking on every occasion.
Please note that we are unable to supply traffic cones or barriers to assist with closing the suspended bays.
Suspensions cannot be considered in areas that are not controlled.
Relocation of vehicles to an adjacent area may be considered in cases of emergency works.
Vehicles that park after the signs have been placed and during the suspended period are likely to receive a penalty charge notice.
The current cost of a parking suspension is:
Resident Permit Only bays: £17.00 a day for each Parking bay or space, where there are no individual parking bays I.E. one long elongated bay, the cost will be calculated at a rate of £17.00 for every 4.5 meters (4500mm)
Pay And Display Only Bays: £24.20 a day for each Parking bay or space, where there are no individual parking bays I.E. one long elongated bay, the cost will be calculated at a rate of £24.20 for every 4.5 meters (4500mm)
Shared Use Parking Spaces where permits and Pay and Display are permitted: £20.60 a day for each Parking bay or space, where there are no individual parking bays I.E. one long elongated bay, the cost will be calculated at a rate of £20.60 for every 4.5 meters (4500mm)
To arrange a suspension, applicants will need to contact the Parking Shop. we would normally require 14 days notice for all applications.
