For those who need to park on-street, vouchers are available. In most streets where voucher parking is permitted, the maximum period of stay is limited to one hour but two hour parking is permitted in some places. The hours of parking controls and maximum permitted stay are clearly displayed on the signs adjacent to parking places.

Parking vouchers are available throughout the whole District and in some surrounding towns. They can be purchased singly, or in books of ten, from certain local shops, newsagents and petrol stations displaying the parking voucher sign . They may also be obtained from the Parking Shop.

List of Voucher Outlets

Parking vouchers are only valid where the signs indicate. They are not valid in permit only streets or in the Council's car parks.

There are some streets in the scheme where parking is permitted without vouchers or permits. There are signs indicating where this is possible.

Vehicles must park within the bay markings. It is an offence to straddle the markings. Vehicles must not be parked across vehicle entrances such that they cause an obstruction to the owner of the entrance. The owner of the entrance may give permission to a driver to use this space, provided the driver displays a valid permit or voucher.

A short period of time will be allowed for new visitors to the area to purchase a voucher after arrival.
