Hertfordshire moves into the new Covid Tier 4 – Stay At Home alert restrictions.

Publication date:

Statement from Cllr Chris White, Leader of St Albans City and District Council, in response to Hertfordshire moving into the new TIER 4: STAY AT HOME restrictions.

“St Albans District is now in Tier 4 following the Government’s announcement of changes in response to the new, more rapidly spreading, coronavirus variant.

“This is a dark and worrying time for many of our local businesses and for those whose livelihoods and day to day lives are seriously affected. Our hearts go out to them, and to those people for whom this will mean spending Christmas Day alone.

“As a community, I know we will work together to help each other get through this ordeal.

“The Council will take a further look at the criteria around the discretionary grants for businesses to see what more can be done there. And we will work with our partners to make sure residents who need help, get it.

“In the meantime, we all need to stay home when we can, and stick to the guidance which has been put in place to keep us as safe as possible in these extraordinary times.  Please play your part and remember the basics: wash your hands; cover your face; and make space.  It is also advisable to keep your home well ventilated.

“If we all do this, we can keep the numbers of cases down and make sure our hospitals can provide help to those who need it.”
