Herts Help
If people need help with emergency food provision, prescription collection, food shopping they can call the helpline and leave a voicemail message or email - messages are being monitored and actioned over the Christmas period.

Meals on Wheels/Emergency Food Parcels
Community Meals are provided by Herts Independent Living Service who are open every day including bank holidays from 8am to 3pm. Herts Community meals can provide long or short term support to qualifying residents. Supporting people who have been discharged from hospital with short term meals or supporting residents who require longer term assistance due to ongoing conditions.
• Office open 8am-3pm, 365 days a year.
• Meals delivered hot and ready to eat between 11:30am and 2:30pm.
• For urgent meal requests, please call 0330 2000 103 to speak to an operational team member.
Any emergency requests received before 9.30am on Bank Holidays (including Christmas Day) will receive a meal that day. They will need to know if anyone has any allergies and also their address for service.
Specialist Benefits & Debt Advice
Citizens Advice Bureau in each district are available 29th to 31st with differing opening hours. They can all be contacted on 03444 111 444.
Mental Health
For advice with mental health Mind in Mid Herts services are open as normal except for bank holidays and weekends via 03303 208100. Herts Mind Network services are closed on Bank Holidays but otherwise open as normal via 0844 477 2212. Hertfordshire Partnership Trust’s Single Point of Access (SPA) Mental Health Helpline is open to Herts residents of all ages, including service users, carers, GPs and other professionals 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The team can provide advice and support for Herts residents who are experiencing a mental health crisis, need some mental health support or just want to talk on Freephone 0800 6444 101
Samaritans
Helpline number is 116123 – 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Between the 3 branches (South West Herts, Ware and Hitchin) there is 24 -7 coverage over Christmas.
