Explore green spaces with help of new ParksHerts website

Enjoy the great outdoors during Love Parks Week by exploring award-winning and undiscovered parks and open spaces in Hertfordshire with help of the new web application ParksHerts.

ParksHerts provides information on all the parks and open spaces across the County helping residents to make the most of these beautiful and natural places.

The web application is being launched today to celebrate Love Parks Week (14 to 23 July) and the start of the school summer holidays.

It includes details of walking, cycling and running routes, historical and wildlife guides, activity trails, information on facilities and local events, as well as maps.

ParksHerts has been developed by a group of councils* in Hertfordshire, including St Albans City and District Council, and is available at www.parksherts.co.uk.

Cllr Daniel Chichester-Miles, Environmental Portfolio Holder for St Albans City and District Council, said: “Parks and green spaces offer great natural surroundings in which to exercise and unwind, to have picnics, and to play games with all the family. With over a hundred flagship parks in Hertfordshire, including award-winning Verulamium Park, Rothamsted Park and Clarence Park among them, there are many fantastic outdoor places to visit. The new web application ParksHerts will help encourage people to explore the outdoors and to discover new places. It’s easy to use and includes valuable information about park facilities and their accessibility, so you know what to expect before setting off.”

You can search for the perfect day out based on who is going and what they want to see and do. So, if you need to find somewhere suitable for the children to run about, walk the dog, relax in nature or to get fit, ParksHerts will help.

The web application is compatible with all mobile devices and tablets, enabling users to find out more about our parks while out and about. It can track a user’s location so they can easily find the nearest toilet, discover more about the local history or find a new route to explore.
