Mayor's Carol Concert Open To All

Publication date:

Everyone is welcome to attend one of the most popular festive events in St Albans – the Mayor’s Carol Concert.

Mayor, Councillor Janet Smith, will host the charity event on Sunday 8 December with funds raised being donated to Rennie Grove Hospice Care.

The concert starts at 4pm and takes place beside one of the City’s most famous landmarks, the 15th Century Clock Tower in the High Street.

St Peter’s Church choir will be performing, accompanied by St Albans City Band.

Cllr Smith, Mayor of St Albans City and District, said:

I am looking forward to hosting this fantastic concert that will remind people what the festive season is all about.

It is open to all comers and I urge everyone to come along and sing their heart out with me. During the service, there will be a collection for Rennie Grove.

There will also be a pause for a minute or two so we can remember loved ones who are unable to be with us due to illness or who have passed away this year.

Clergy from around the District will be in attendance including the Dean of the Cathedral, Dr Jeffrey John, the Rev. Mark Dearnley from St Peter’s Church and the Mayor’s Chaplain, the Rev. Becky Leach.

The Boot will also be providing mulled wine and mince pies from a market stall to add to the cracking atmosphere with all proceeds going to Rennie Grove.

Rennie Grove offers care and support for patients in Hertfordshire who have been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness. For more information, see: www.renniegrove.org.
