Vote for the festive pub of the year
An annual contest to find the most festive pub of the year in St Albans has been launched – and nominations are invited.
The competition – sponsored by The St Albans Review – is intended to encourage the City’s pubs to bring an extra sparkle to St Albans’ during the Christmas period.
A judging panel will visit nominated pubs to see first-hand what efforts they have made to mark the festive season.
They will assess the decorations, customer service, drinks selection and general atmosphere before deciding the winner.
In particular, they will be looking for something that sets the pub apart from the others, such as an innovative idea or the personal touch.
The winner will get a certificate and a glass trophy that they can show off to customers.
Nominations should be sent by Monday 10 December to economicdevelopment@stalbans.gov.uk.
Last year’s winner was the Hare and Hounds, Sopwell Lane, with the Rose and Crown, St Michael’s Village, triumphing in 2016.
Councillor Salih Gaygusuz, the Council’s Portfolio Holder for Business and the Community, will be one of the judges as will Councillor Roma Mills.

This contest is a fun way to reward all that hard work and is a well-established part of the City’s Christmas programme.
