Your chance to quiz Thameslink executives

Publication date:

Train users have a chance to question railway executives about services between London and the St Albans District.

Representatives of Govia, which operates the Thameslink line, are to attend a public meeting next month.

They will be joined by colleagues from Network Rail which owns the track and other infrastructure. Members of rail user groups are also expected to attend.

The meeting has been arranged by St Albans City and District Council‘s Planning, Resources, Housing and Commercial Scrutiny Committee.

It will be held in the Council chamber at the Civic Centre, St Peter’s Street, on Thursday 8 February from 7pm.

Anyone who wants to raise an issue can do so by emailing scrutiny@stalbans.gov.uk  by noon on Monday 5 February.

Their questions may be put to the executives by Councillors.  If requested, their names and addresses will be kept confidential.

Councillor Roma Mills, the Committee’s Chair, said: “The Thameslink service continues to be a major issue for the tens for thousands of our residents who commute to London.

“There have been improvements over the last year, but we are hearing that many problems, such as driver shortages, persist.

“I know as well that many people were angered by the New Year fare rises and the promised overhaul of the City station to relieve platform congestion at peak times has still not happened.

“I’m sure people will take advantage of this opportunity to quiz Govia and Network Rail executives about their future plans.

“I welcome any questions that our residents want me to put to the rail company executives on their behalf and am sure there will be a wide range of concerns.”

Questions can also be sent by post to the Scrutiny Officer, St Albans City and District Council, Civic Centre, St Peter’s Street, St Albans AL1 3JE.
