Trees and Woodland Strategy, Policies, and Action Plan (2024-2029)

St Albans City and District Council is committed to managing and developing the treescape on Council-owned land through our comprehensive Trees and Woodland Strategy, Policies, and Action Plan. This initiative spans from 2024 to 2029 and focuses on ensuring a resilient, safe, and robust tree stock.

Our strategy outlines detailed management and planting activities designed to provide significant benefits to the local community, combat climate change, and enhance the local environment.

Highway Tree Management - The Council also manages trees located on public highways on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council (HCC). This work includes conducting safety surveys and performing safety-related maintenance. All these activities are carried out in compliance Hertfordshire County Council Highways Tree Management Strategy

Management of Pest and Disease Threats in Council-Owned Trees Toggle accordion

The purpose is to protect and enhance the health, safety, and biodiversity of Council-owned trees by proactively managing existing pest and disease threats through monitoring, intervention, and public engagement.
