Infrastructure
The Infrastructure team provides Highways and Civil Engineering expertise and support across the Council’s built environment and public realm. The team is also responsible for various disused railway bridges and structures which span a network of foot and cycle paths in the district, flood water management, and sustainable transport and movement. The latter includes the management of some bus shelters, and street furniture such as benches and way finder signage.
The team also receives applications for temporary street closures in respect to certain events. The council has powers under the Town Police Clauses Act to grant permission to event organisers for temporary closures for public processions, rejoicings, or illuminations, such as Pilgrimages, Folk dancing, and Remembrance Sunday.
