Housing advice and homelessness

St Albans City and District Council are here to support you if you’re struggling with your housing.

We can provide a range of advice depending on your situation, and if you’re homeless or threatened with eviction in 56 days, we can go through a homeless application with you.

Due to the lack of social housing in the district, the Council will work to help you get into alternative accommodation.

Advice during Coronavirus Outbreak

What do I do during the Coronavirus Outbreak?

St Albans City and District Council is working hard to support people in housing crisis during the Coronavirus outbreak. Recent changes from Government mean that:

  • People in Private Rented Accommodation have additional protection from eviction for 3 months.
For more information, go to our Private Sector Housing page below.
  • People in Social Housing will have additional protection from eviction for 3 months.

The Housing Options Team are still working with clients, but will be conducting interviews over the phone in line with Government guidance on social distancing. If you are still concerned about your housing situation, you can contact the Council for advice and assistance. Click on Homeless or Threatened with Homelessness below and follow the instructions on completing a referral to the Housing Options Team.
