What does Customer, Business and Corporate Support do?

Our remit covers a wide range of roles that deliver for our customers and support the needs of the business, ranging from Finance and Legal, to Customer Services, Built Environment and Democratic Services. Much of the work we do enables the rest of the organisation to work smoothly - providing the right advice, the right people, training and development, and support to deliver our services. We handle all initial customer contact, transactions, complaints and compliments as well as helping our Councillors to deliver their role effectively.

What does Strategy, Policy and Transformation do?

In our Directorate we translate the vision and aspirations of the Council into strategies and policies which we can deliver. We are responsible for long term strategic planning including ICT, Digital Transformation and Economic Development as well as ensuring effective Communication, Community Safety and Engagement. We focus on delivery of corporate priorities and ensure the Council can adapt and be fit for the future. It is an exciting time for the Directorate as we work to shape a sustainable future for the District and our organisation.

What does Community and Place Delivery do?

Our purpose is to set long term vision for place shaping our District and to deliver excellent services to our residents that impact their daily lives. Our teams work ranges across the following:

  • delivering a Local Plan, and planning development
  • affordable, sustainable housing and homelessness 
  • managing high standard public realm services including Waste, Parks and Green Spaces, Parking and Enforcement
  • a vibrant cultural, heritage, tourism and leisure offer through our leisure centres, events, theatres, museums and markets. This contributes to sustain our local and visitor economy and customer expectations

The work we do is very rewarding, making a tangible long term impact in sustainable regeneration and community engagement. It is also about working with government departments and influencing the regional agenda on place, deprivation and community cohesion.
