Local Land charges

Effective from 17^th December 2022

How official searches and personal searches are processed:

Personal Searches

Personal Searches are carried out at the council offices. We have a terminal available to view the Local Land Charges Register entries. Please email land.charges@stalbans.gov.uk with your preferred appointment date. The Register can be viewed between 10am and 16:00. If you have not attended the offices before please make this clear in the email request.

Official Searches 

We will require all official search requests to be sent to us via the following ways:

Or as attachment by email to land.charges@stalbans.gov.uk
When emailing as a PDF attachment, please do not send in duplicate. One sheet per form.

Payment for the official search is to be paid online via card payment. Please go to Pay Online to access the system. We will require a copy of the receipts of payment to be emailed to us along with the search attachments. Please ensure the LLC1 and Con29 forms are paid for separately as per instructions online at payment screen.

Please do not post any searches to the Council Offices as we will not receive them.

The Local Land Charge team carries out all official local authority searches covered by the Local Land Charges Rules 2010, guaranteeing comprehensive replies to the official LLC1, CON29 and where relevant Con29O enquiries signed by the St Albans City and District Council "Proper Officer".

Our searches are accepted by all Mortgage Lenders.
